What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth and/or jaw. The aligners are made of SmartTrack®, a thermoplastic that contains no metal, BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten. As a result, treatment is safe for individuals with allergies and pregnant people.

The aligners fit snugly over your teeth, and they’re clear. Treatment is more discreet than traditional braces, and it’s usually quicker too. 

What types of alignment issues can Invisalign treat?

At Holistic Smiles LA, Dr. Monempour uses Invisalign to treat various alignment issues, including:

• Crowding
• Misaligned teeth
• Overlapping teeth
• Misaligned jaws
• Malpositioned bites

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

At Holistic Smiles LA, Invisalign treatment begins by reviewing your oral health history and an oral exam. Although not needed, previous X-rays are required to confirm your teeth don’t have any decay, infection, or pathologies.

If your teeth and gums are healthy, Dr. Monempour takes digital impressions of your mouth with an intraoral scanner. This scan is sent to board-certified orthodontist Dr. Firooz, who, along with computer-aided design (CAD) technology, will develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan that maps out the movements of your teeth and jaw. 

 Dr. Firooz provides Dr. Monempour with something called a Clin-Check, an animation of your teeth now, and the progression so you can see the final product. This Clin-Check also shows how many trays are needed and how long treatment will take. Once you approve, the team will create the aligners.

Throughout treatment, you visit Holistic Smiles LA every one to two weeks, depending on your case. At each check-up, you change into a new set of Invisalign aligners. Each new set of aligners places slightly different pressure on your teeth and jaw, slowly but surely moving them into the optimal position. In some instances, Dr. Monempour can provide the trays, so you’re responsible for changing them out at the required time interval.

How long does treatment with Invisalign take?

Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign takes anywhere from three months to two years, depending on the issue and severity. To ensure the treatment process goes as smoothly as possible, make sure to attend each of your follow-up appointments and follow Dr. Monempour’s instructions.
